Having 19" on a B5 looks good but if the roads are ****ty then one can bent a rim or two.
The question is, if I want more sidewall protection from a 19"x8, 35offset, what would be a good safe size? I'm running 235/35/19 now but was hoping to go with a 40 profile. Is it possible to go with a 235/40/19 and/or 225/40/19??

you may want to go to 245/35/19 for a bit more cushion. in any case, i think any wheel/tire comobo 18" and bigger will give a harsh ride.
