Are 275/30/20 too much for a 20x9 wheel?

I'm ordering the EU spec 7 spoke 20" wheels for the S5, but I'm having a tire dilemma. I hear the Conti2 is shyte and the Pilot PS2s are twice the price of anything else. I've heard that Toyo Proxy T1Rs are supposed to be great tires and a good compromise if you don't want to shell out for the PS2s but way better than the Conti2.
Problem is that the Proxy would only come in a 275mm width. Their website says the 275s fit on wheels with 9-10 inch widths which works because the EU spec 20" are 9" wide so they are within spec. I'm just not sure what it will look like if you put a 275mm tire on a 9" wheel.
Anyone have any insights?

Current body (D3) Audi A8's/S8's with the largest optional wheels run 20 x 9. Typically run a 275/35-20 tire, though many S8's came with a 265 tire on the same rim--same actual tread width apparently, just a bit lower profile. Tire looks very good on the wheel visually. Just find one in the field and see what you think. In turn, going down to 30's seems like a minor tweak.
D3's do have sophisticated air shocks though, so I can guess the ride would be a lot rougher in those profiles in any other car. My D3 with 35's is much plusher than my A6 C5 with a conventional steel suspension (non sport even) with either 40's or 45's.
