Is 4/32nds tread height too low for another winter?

You'd only buy yourself one more year - but be taking a huge risk. I'd go new.
I tried the same thing last year, with 5/32nds.
I regretted it big-time by February, when the tread was down even further and all the reasonably priced tire merchants were out of stock for the season...
