Have a 97 A6 Avant with 16x7 wheels with 45mm offset. Want to put snow tires on 16x7 wheels with 37mm offset. Will they fit? What size snow tire should I get if they do fit?

Can't tell if the wheels will clear the brakes just by size and offset. The spoke pattern will need to clear the brake calipers and the only way to tell that for sure is to test fit. If they fit you can use 205/55R16.

Gary is right but a quick search on websites for the wheel mfr or Tire Rack or Discount Tire (if they carry that wheel) will let you know if that wheel fits your model.

Thanks for the advice. Will be taking the car to the Audi dealer to "test fit." Both sets of wheels are Audi OEM - the set with the 37mm offset is for a 1997 Audi A8.
