As you progress toward 16" tires, you have a better selection of performance tires available. The results are better turn in, braking, acceleration, and cornering.
Advancing to 17" rims gives you even better road feel (now your 15" mushy sidewall has been replaced by a stiffer and significantly short sidewall.
The ride will become much more communicative. Be aware that you will also experience more ride harshness due to the nature of the tires. More road noise is also likely.
The 16" tires are a nice middle ground, and you'll most likely be much happier with the performance and handling vs. stock 15" tires.
