My 1998 A4 2.8Q has a sports package and stock Dunlop SP 8000E's. Is it the case that these tires shouldn't be used year round in the northeast (primarily because they are poor in icy or snowy conditions)? Can anyone recommend good all seasons that don't compromise too much on performance? FYI, Consumer Reports seems high on Michelin Energy MX/V4 "touring performance" tires, which are supposedly good in all kinds of weather, quiet and good handlers. Any thoughts would be much-appreciated. Also, any recommendations for a good tire pressure gauge would be welcome, too.
Thanks.<p>kl

I would run Michelin Pilot Alpines or the new Bridgestone Blizzaks (also H rated) in the winter and performance tires in the other 3 seasons. That is what I do here in Oregon.

Anyone have experience with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S? How do they compare to other all season tires?
