My dealer suggested I post here to get responses as to which tire with an "aggressive tread" made by Continental, Perelli, or Michelin (his brand recommendations) would be best for my car year round, with emphasis on bad weather conditions in cold, snowy climate.

Just make sure you get the V rated version if you're doing 16". (Stiffer sidewall = better steering response for dry roads)

Gary from Tirerack: Thanks to those who responed; Gary, I also got recommendations from a local tire place for Yokohama Avid V4S or Bf Goodrich Traction TA. Can you give me your expert opinion on any of these suggested or another option you might think is better.

I mis-posted the subject heading in my second post. I addressed the following question to you, if you could be so kind to reply: Gary, I also got recommendations from a local tire place for Yokohama Avid V4S or Bf Goodrich Traction TA. Can you give me your expert opinion on any of these suggested on this forum or another option you might think is better.

The Avid V4S should be a bit quieter and have better wet traction, but won't be quite as good in snow as the Traction T/A. Other good options to consider would be the Bridgestone Potenza G009 or Michelin Exalto A/S.
The Conti Extremes and Kumho ASX tires are excellent in their category, but will trade off some wear for better handling/grip/steering response. Between these two the Extreme Contact should have better winter traction.

Tires

Thanks for quick response Gary. We are moving to northern PA - snow country. We wanted all-season tire that would handle a lot of snowy conditions, but maybe we are asking too much because on tirerack all of these tires say "light snow."
If I could put you on the spot & this were your circumstances, which one of these all-season tires do you think would do best in snowy country; and if you think we should get dedicated winter tires for that area, what would you pick? We have Audi A4 Quattro 2.8L - 16 in wheels

Gary: We have the Potenza now. What do you think of the Michelin MXV4Plus compared to Michelin Exalto A/S for the snowy weather. Hope this my last question. Thank-you

Dedicated winter tires are the way to go for any area that gets more than occasional light snow IMO. That being said if you stick with an all season that Michelin Exalto A/S has had very favorable feedback for snow tration. I would choose this over the MXV4 personally.
