Any non-studded snow tires that may give you a chance on an icy skid?

Yeah, but the good non-studded ice tires will do a far better job preventing the skid...
Once you're in a skid though...your own skill becomes a bigger ingredient imho. Even the best ice tires I've driven on give you a little grip vs. none with other tires, but if you don't know what to do to recover, you're hosed anyway. The amount of grip you have to work with is very little and the amount of momemtum you're carrying is probably quite large.

The two best I know of are the Blizzak WS-60 and Michelin XIceXI2<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR8&url=/winter/index.jsp">winter</a></li></ul>
