Default Any opinions on Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s?

Any fresh opinions would be appreciated. Be as detailed as you'd like. I'm especially concerned about road noise. Thanks.

Default I like them, but there are better options now.

These were among the best tires when they first came out (4-5 years ago from what I can recall). They do get louder as they wear, and there are better tires available now as tire technology has gotten a bit better. Good alternatives would include the Goodyear F1 Asymmetric and Michelin PS2. Either of those would be quiter riding with better dry grip and equal or better wet traction to the GSD3.

Tires

Default I've been very happy with GS-D3's on my Corrado and UrS6

The dry grip is very good and wet traction is excellent. Like Gary said the noise does increase as the tires wear, but at about 1/2 the original tread depth the set on my UrS6 isn't too noisy.

When the current sets I have wear out I'll be replacing them with the F1 Asymmetric. They are a newer better tire and TR was selling them recently for $25 off/tire and a $50 rebate on a set of 4. That deal really makes them a great buy compared to the GS-D3 or PS2.

Do they make the F1 Asymmetric in 245/45x17?

Default Not yet, no.

I'd expect them to in the future, but at this point there are no short term plans by Goodyear to make this size.

Hmmm. My stock size is 245/45x17. They have 235/45R17 and 245/40R17. Which should I go with?

Default Best tire I have owned...

Fantastic in dry and especially in wet...

It would take major persuasion for me to go to another type of tire...

The best performance/street tire I have owned. Stick like glue in the wet and dry. Stay off snow. Can be used on track with abandon. They go where you point them.
