Are you interested in winter options or just jazzier wheels?

I've put my winter wheels and tires (Blizzak WS 70's) on my C7 A6...I went minus 2 sizes, from 255/40-19 to 225/55-17. The new 17" wheels are Moda MD11's from Tire Rack.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but if you are interested I'll post a couple of pics.

Curious..how does going down 2 sizes( or even one for that matter) for winter set up change the speedometer reading? I've never had a winter setup and will need to look.

It depends on the aspect ratio of the replacement tire. In my case I'm about 1.08% smaller in diameter than the original summer wheel and tire setup, so my speedometer reads 60 mph when I'm actually going 59.3 mph or close to. I believe it's generally recommended to choose a minus size combo that is within 2% of what is being replaced.

Here is what I generally use to determine compatibility. There are a lot more on the internet...

I have the 19" sport package on mine and was planning to put snow tires on the stock 19"s and put new (read - a little sportier) wheels on the summer tires. The stock wheels are nice but are still a little conservative for me. The A6 is a fantastic sport sedan and I just feel like it deserves a little more muscular wheel on it.

I plan to put WS-70's on my stock 18" sport package rims in the next 30 days. I'm torn between the 225/55-18 or 225/45-18 as the 45's are a bit low on diameter (25.9") and the 55's are a bit tall (27.8"). I'd like the taller tire for a bit more clearance but I wonder if there would be rubbing issues with the taller tire since I have the sport suspension. The diameter range for all stock 18", 19" and 20" fitments for the car is 26.7" - 27.1". Unfrotunately, the WS-70's don't come in 225/50-18. Anyone have any suggestions?

You might want to give some consideration to the X ice Xi2's. I have a friend who is running a set of 225/50-18's on a 5 series BMW. He had WS 60's in the past and claims the Michelins are on par with the Blizzaks...

Excellent suggestion, thanks. I'll have to read up on the X's. I've run Blizzaks on my various Audi's for 15 years and have been extremely pleased so it'll take some convincing.

Hartmann makes some very reliable and strong rims. They also have a album with pictures of their cars with the rims on them. Tire rack has the ability to show their rims on a profile of the model car you drive.

You might try posting your question on the specific forum for your model car to see what other owners have done. Not everyone comes to the wheel and tire forum
