FWIW, I have the SO2-PP 225/45/17's and they are one amazing tire! Wet or dry, it doesn't matter, they've *never* let me down. There wet performance is espaecially amazing. Its scarry just how well they handle in the rain. I also understand they use a dual layer compound that actually gets stickier as they wear down.
I think any of the tires you mentioned would be an excellent choice.
99' Passat 1.8t 5spd. wagon

I had initially intended to put winter tires on the Avus's. But the thought of putting 235/40/17 AVS Sports (~$160) on them for the track seems like a good move too.
Ideally I'd have a set of dedicated/track wheels and tires, and use the Avus's as winter ones, but I don't see this happening in the near future.
Putting the track tires on the Avus's also sorta defeats the purpose of my buying lightweight 18" wheels (okay looks played a part). It sorta depends on the price of the tire I put on them. If I spent closer to $200 than $300 I'd be more inclined to track them.
I have gotten 10K mi. out of the Blowtenza's w/ three track days, so... It would help if they recall these and give us S-02 replacements, that I could track.![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Okay, after listening to what's been posted thus far, I'm now leaning away from the SP9000's toward the AVS sports. (hey Josh, I don't need Garrett turbos!) ;-)
leslie (still indecisive, can't believe I decided on wheels! hopefully <1 mo., sigh)

Either the S02s (non PP in that size) or the Pilot sports.
The Dunlops are very nice & very popular, but wiull not match the handling & grip the S02s or PSs will provide.
It will probably be easier to heplp you narrow it down if you call me so you & I can discuss the differences & make sure you have the best for what you need.

Thanks!

According to tirerack's track test, the AVS Sports had the LEAST tire wear in the runoff between them and the Pilots and SO2's.

2 track days, and they held up better than expected.

I had SP 8000 before and now SP 9000. The SP 9000 is MUCH more comfortable than the SP 8000 BUT responsiveness and grip really sucks. It seems like the middle blocks (V-pattern) bend aside in faster driven curves. I will not buy them again.
Steve
