Default BBS RC owners

Could those of you with the polished and silver version of the RC's please post some pics of your wheels? I am trying to decide between the polished or silver version and have not been able to find any good pics either online or through a search of the forums that gives me an idea of the difference between the two finishes.

Also, for those of you with the polish, have you had any problems maintaining the finish of the wheels? I don't mind doing some work to keep the wheels looking good, but I certainly wouldn't want to spend hours each week doing it.

Thanks in advance! I'm hoping to purchase by Wednesday.

Regards,
Raja Hamilton

Default Here is my 2.7T with PST option BBS RC wheels

Here are the silver painted 17" wheels on the PST option package for the A6 2.7T FWIW, I had polished factory wheels on my 911 and they were beautiful but were a major PITA to keep clean. IMO the polished would be beautiful.

Default Thanks George

I'm very worried about maintaining the finish of the polished wheels. I keep having images of swirls and cloudiness in the finish. Looks like I'm starting to lean towards the silver, though I agree with you...the polished version would probably look beautiful! Thanks for the pics! Now if I can just get some comments from the polished owners!

Default Just what you needed..........

I have had painted and polished wheels on many of my cars. I found the polished is easier to take care of. Polished RC's are not as bright as chrome but they are a lot brighter than painted. When polished wheels get a little dirty the look like painted wheels. They look sharper longer.
ie.(less cleaning brake dust off between washes.)
BBS polished wheels have a clear coat over them so they alway stay bright and you take care of them like a painted wheel. BBS has a 4 year finish warranty and a lifetime structure warranty.
Here are some really bad scans of some photos of my 2001 A4 1.8T quattro with 18" polished BBS rc wheels. The scans dont do the wheels justice

Default Side scan.

Notice how dark and blurry the scan is and the wheels still look reasonably bright.

Default Musicman, thanks for the info

I actually dropped you an e-mail last night. You are the first person who has told me that it would probably be easier to clean the polished versions. I guess my main concerns at this point are how long I can keep the finish looking as good as it does new, with reasonable care of the wheels, and how bright the wheels really are. Would you guys say the polished finish on the RC's looks similar to the polished finish on the TT 5 spoke wheel or the A6 4.2 5 spoke wheel? I don't consider those too wheels bright at all, rather, just right in my book!

Default Brooklyn, I would say that they are............

about the same as the polished TT wheels. I havent seen the TT wheels for awhile but I think there close. The finish is the same, both painted and polished have the same clearcoat over them so they will hold up equally.
I had the same concern about how bright or reflective the polished BBS RC are. They dont look like chrome wheels but they are bright and reflective in a warm tone way.
O.k., on a scale of one to ten, One being the brightness of a silver painted wheel and ten being a mirror chrome finish. Polished rc's are about a 7 or 8.
Here is one more point. Worst case, if you never took care of a polished wheel (and after many years)let the clearcoat go to hell. You can very easily have the wheels stripped and polished to look like new again. I did this 15 years ago with a older set of BBS wheels I bought for my 911. They looked like new when they were repolished and it cost me very little.
My E-mail is acting up so I might not have got your e-mail.
The polished is the way to go. They look very impressive.

Default Thanks again! last question: what offset are your wheels?

I see some people with ET 32 and other claim they have ET 35. Thanks in advance. I think I'm going with the polished based on your observations.
