Default What, 6 or 7k?

That's about what it takes for as Toyo to get noisy. I have no doubt that the R is better than the S, but there is no reason to believe that it's in the same class as the Michelin, Goodyear or Bridgestone. Treadwear? Yeah, it probably will last longer. It's harder.

Default Ok, I have Toyo T1-S and Pilot Sports.. back to back.

I like the T1-S much better.. the pilots do have a harder sidewall, but I learned to appreciate the softer sidewall for comfort and better ride over bumps while cornering hard.

And, mine were still quiet past 6-7k. (and a track event!)

Do you believe first hand experience on a car similar to yours, or a sales guy's customer feedback?

What I'm trying to tell you is that they are not in a different league as your tire salesperson is suggesting.

Default Pilot Sports? or PS2?

My guys have been big sellers of Toyos for years. They're good tires, and the first tire I asked them about for this car was the new Toyo. As I said up above, sometimes it depends on the application. I wish tirerack would carry and test the Toyos, but their tests are for relatively small tires compared to what I need, and in a larger size the tires might perform differently.

Default Pilot Sports (original version)

PS2 is better than Pilot Sport, and T1-R is better than T1-S. I don't doubt that the PS2 has more absolute dry grip.. but I would argue that it's enough more to consider it a different class, that's all :-D

They're both very good tires.

Default but beware, it's not really 'uniform'

The rating is completely up to each manufacturer, so within a brand you can compare but not necessarily between different brands.
