Better in rain... Performance Summer or Performance Winter tires?
Just curious, which tire should perform better in rain conditions, a performance summer tire (e.g. ContiSportContact 2) or a performance winter tire (e.g. Dunlop Winter Sport M3)? If it makes a difference, the summer tire is 17" while the winter tire is 16" (with corresponding width adjustment).
I'm guessing the winter tire would do better, due to the siping and more tread blocks, but thought I'd ask anyway.
I'm just contemplating putting my winter tires on sooner (now that we're getting more rain) rather than later (when the ski trips begin).

Depending on the model, most performance summer tires would out perform the vast majority of performance winter tires in wet conditions.

Depends on temps. Cold rain (i.e. 35-45 degrees) a winter tire might do better, but in warmer..
good summer tire like Gary said. In the colder weather, most of the summer compound gets hard and grip goes bye bye.
