Can I fit 245/40 - 17's on Oettinger RE 17x8 on my A4 1.8TQ ?

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/1999/245_40_a.jpg"></center><p>I had 245/40s on 17x8s on my Z3 & M3. The S-02 PPs run a bit narrower, so they didn't bulge at all. they may stick out of the fender a bit, depending on offset.

There are some tuners who have put 245s (MTM) on but I am sure they have had to do some modificatons to make the wheels and tires fit. I am not sure that you need such a wide tire on a car with so little hp. A S4 with chips could make use of the extra width tire and be able to overcome the extra weight.

The reason I asked is because TireRack has the Bridgestone Re71 on 245/40-17 for $101/ea. so I wanted to save a few $$$. Well, it still looks like I will go with 235/40-17 to make sure they fit without any problems.
