Default Could using ball-seat lug bolts on wheels requiring cone-seat cause imbalance/wobbling?

I have AT Italia S5 wheels and the cone seat bolts sent to me are about 2 threads too long (when I snug and torque them the hubs won't turn).

I had the seller send me a new set - but he sent same ones, still too long.

The OEM bolts are just the right length, but they are ball-seat type.

I am trying to find a proper length set of cone seats (or machine this set down a bit), but until then I have installed the wheels with the OEM ball seat bolts. And they wobble, even though I had the wheels trued and Roadforce Balanced. And I DO have hubcentric rings installed.

Could ball seat really cause balanced wheels/tires to wobbble? It really doesn't seem like they could be mounted off-center, but I'm not sure. Maybe I need to have the balancing checked again?

Default I wouldn't run lugs with the wrong seat

You could ruin the lug seating surface on the wheel and or/lugs. Also, since they won't torque properly, you could risk the lugs loosening while you drive.

Call Gary @ Tire Rack to get a proper set. He should have them, since they sell AT Italia wheels.

Mr. Gary - Please advise, do AT Italia S5 require cone or ball seat? 18x7.5 ET20 for allroad. TIA!

Default Ball seat, this wheel should use OE Audi lug bolts.

At least the ones that we sell use ball seats.

Shoot me an email with the complete list of part #'s off of the back of the wheel and I'll double check.
