Default Eddie & Others, Tires performance and long commute?

I'm buying 225/45/17s and would like a balance of performance and tread wear to deal with a 70 miles per day commute (25,000+ miles per year). The top performance tires would probably last me less than a year.. so need something that performs well, has low noise, and decent tread life. Any help is appreciated!

Default Bridgestone RE730 and Pirelli 7000SS have the highest wear ratings

I have not used either tire so I can't give a recommendation on either.<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/Rebadged3.jpg">

Default Dunlop SP9000s - better wear than the SP8000s which seem to last 20-30K miles

I am running them on my car 225/45/17s and would get them again.

Default Hutch, I think you will fine the SP9000 an all around outstanding tire...

I wouldn't rate it the best in dry traction or cornering but would give it very high marks. You can do better for dry cornering but you may sacrifice ride quality and wear. The SP9000 has a very good ride quality (not harsh at all) and even with the aggressive tread design is relatively quite. The tire has outstanding wet traction. (IMHO)

I've had the sp9000 in two different fitments. 205/50-16 on a Volvo 850 Turbo. And 255/40-17 on my A6 4.2.
I had over 25k miles on them when I sold the Volvo and they had at least another 15k worth of life left. I've got 15k miles on the A6 4.2 but only 3k on the SP9000's. I'm very happy with them. All the "stick" I need for an everyday tire and loads of wet traction. Ride quality is superior and the tirs have good turn-in response and are quite predictable. Haven't experienced any tram-lining that others in the past have mentioned but most of the roads around here (STL) are in pretty good shape. I suspect they will be pretty slippery on snow/ice covered roads in this fitment (255/40-17) so I have the SP5000's that came on the car for winter "skins".

Hope this helps.
