Default frigid, dry winters winters, lots of ice - Are Dunlop M3s the way to go? 215 or 205/55/R16?

Winnipeg Manitoba. Middle of the bald prairies. Frequently gets to -30C. We can get a lot of snow, but it is dry snow, not wet and slushy (except for spring thaw). Lots of heavy groove ice build-up on roads.

I have a set of 16x7 wheels - Should I do Dunlop M3's? In 215 or 205/55/16?

Going on an 05 A4 Ultrasport.

Default Ice buildup on roads? I'd get something more agressive than M3

Look at

Nokian RSi
Nokian Hakka2 (with studs)
Dunlop Graspic DS2
Blizzak WS50

With a proper ice tire, you'll be fine with 215/55/16.
