Default Gary, can you answer a sensor question?

I'm thinking about putting aftermarket 20-inch rims on a new A8. If the car has a tire pressure monitoring system, can I just use any rim that fits and ignore the pressure monitoring stuff. Will buzzers go off? Lights? What happens if I want to be able to go back and forth between my new rims and the 17-inch stock rims for snow travel? Thanks.

Default If I am not mistaken - you can change the sensors over the new rims

I think they fit around the inside diameter of the rim.

You can also buy a second set of sensors for the other rims.

I beleive the first BMWs rims that had sensors were not able to do this but I think all new cars use sensors that are moveable.

Default Right. More....

A valve stem based system is used on this car. You can either purchase a 2nd set of sensors for your other wheels, or ignore the light on the dash. I'm not sure if other issues would arrise by not using the sensors.

If you'd like, we even sell the sensors and stems that would be needed, $70 each sensor and $7 each stem <you'd need four of each>. The only issue I can't help with is making sure that your new 20" wheels will accept the valve mounted sensor, as the shape of the valve stem area will affect that. The only way to tell is to test fit.
