Default Gary: ? A/S vs summer

I getting a S4 Avant and 98% of the time it will be driven in Dallas. Occasionally drive to Colorado in Winter (March). If I change from Conti OEM to an all season like PZero Nero, Conti Ext or Pilot Sport AS, how much would I lose in handling in the summer? Which of the 3 would you rec for year round in Texas or would you switch back to Contis for summer? THanks.

I always perfer a summer tire for summer for handling, and an all season or winter tire for snow. However, if you were to choose to run just one set, I'd lean towards the Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S or the Michelin Sport A/S as they have much better hanlding and dry grip than the Conti Extreme all season for the majority of your driving in TX.

Tires

Thanks! If I get my car when expected I'll get back to you about wheel choices/combo deal for the MS A/S.

Default pzero vs pilotsport A/S

Hello S4-dpc. I have two A4s. One with Michelin Pilot sport A/S and the other with Pzero Nero M/S. Both tires are excellent and I've now had a chance to drive both in a few inches of snow. I noticed no difference between the two as far as snow traction. If you have quattro, standard transmission and you know how to drive, you should not have a problem in the winter with these tires. I do consider my self a gentle driver especially in the snow though. I would go with the pzero. It looks great, super quiet, and due to the design of the tire it has a wider contact patch than the Pilot sport A/S. The pilot sport looks rather narrow in comparison. It may be better in the real deep stuff but I haven't had the chance to compare yet.

Thanks for the additional info. I have to laugh, being from Michigan now in Texas >12yr buying an all season tire, something I never thought while living in a wintery climate.
