Good alternatives to S-03s? I'm tired of replacing them every 15k miles....
I love these tires, and price isn't such a problem. But I'm tired of having to replace them so often. Are there any worthy competitors that last longer? I don't want to give up much in grip or turn in, however.
One I'm considering is the Toyo T1S
This would be 255/40-17s.

i like the toyo t1 s....
after 2 months usage still quieter and they seem to handle as well as the bridgestones in the wet and dry. maybe a little softer sidewall but this only seems positive, so far as pot holes seams and so on. haven't had them long enough to know about wear but anything should be better than the s-03s. toyo japan (not usa) has a good web site to explain the features of this tire.
read lots of good things about the new goodyear too, but no personal experience.
cheers

Well...
The alternatives that keep the same level of grip <or better with PS2> have not been proven to wear any longer : Goodyear GSD3 and Pilot Sport PS2.
You may or may not see longer wear with most other summer performance tires. There aren't many that we've found in that catagory that have noticably more wear consistantly. If you're willing to trade off some grip for better wear, check out the Dunlop 9000 or recently we've gotten good feedback on wear with Bridgestone Re750.

Tires

T1's might last a smidge longer...
but don't count on it. My S-03's lasted about 15k on the A6 and the T1's lasted about 17k. The T1's were quieter and didn't tramline but the turnin is defintely less crisp. Grip is about the same in dry and wet and the T1's weigh significantly less if that is of any interest to you.
I'm probably going to try the Goodyears next but I'm not expecting anymore mileage out of them.
