Has anyone here ever had to cut down a lug bolt?

I bought lug bolts that are 3mm to long for my new wheels and I am wondering if I could have them cut, instead of shipping them back and buying another set? TIA.

I bought one of those attachments for the cordless drill and mounted a sand wheel on it. It took a while, but I only had to do two of them. If you're talking about 20 lugbolts - that's a lot of work. Unfortunately, no shop in my area wanted to do this for me - all were telling me that cutting them is going to screw up the thread and they'll become useless.
If I were you, I think I'd rather ship them back and get the correct set.

Never any problems. stationary sanding disc works the best. Keep a cup of water nearby as the part will get warm. Don't let it get scalding hot. Keep it cool.
