MUCH better than the Proxes 4... Also may look at ContiExtremeContact which is the set i had previously to the RE960 both are similar in price though the RE960 seem to plow through the puddles better than the Contis. My 2ยข.

I expect good things from them.
(EDIT) Now that I've driven about 500 miles the tires are basically quiet over even road but when you hit a rut or an asphalt pump, unevenness in the road, the sound level of that pump is noticeable. In other words the thump is deeper than what I was use to with the Falkens....aside from that the "level road" tire sound is fine.

and great traction in the snow. I've also run Kumho ASX in the winter, not as smooth and quiet as the Neros, but just as good in the snow and rain, and nice stiff sidewalls for aggressive cornering.

We bought our '02 S6a in April. Came with Dunlop Direzza DZ-101 (summer) tires. Would not have been my 1st choice...good response but not confidence inspiring in the wet.
THe Eagle F1 A/S went on Thursday. Went to Portland (from Seattle) Friday, snow fell Sat on the way home. Impressions:
* Perhaps too new to really tell, but not as crisp as the DZ-101
* Definitely higher traction limits in the wet
* A bit quieter...seem to have softer sidewalls.
* No issues w/ traction in slush & wet snow, though I wasn't trying to push it.
All-in-all, jury's still out, but since this is our (her) daily driver and not the track-oriented car, this seems to be good so far.

I JUST put some new Yoko Advan S4 on my '01 allroad this week. I am in the Chicago area. They seemed the best compromise for grip, handling, and dealing with varied weather for the price of a UHP tire.
They are super quiet and smooth. So, if you're only expecting dry & wet conditions and limited snow, I think they'd make agreat A/S choice.

I have had Pzero Neros m+s for the last 3 years on my A6 2.7T 6 spd. They are poor in any amount of snow. If I could do it over again, I'd have either installed ContiExtemeContacts (UHP all-season) or gone with dedicated summer (Michelin PS2) and winter tires (like the ContiWinterContacts).
