I'm looking to put high quality, FORGED 8" X 18" wheels on my new A6C6 4.2, that I hope to take delivery of in Feb. 2005, along with 245/40 X 18
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's.
Given the current small number of choices for aftermarket wheels that A of A, and even Tirerack, suggest will fit the new A6C6, I'm considering taking out a 2nd mortgage and springing for HRE's, which can be cusotn made to fit my new car.
Consensus appears to be that HRE's of very high quality, but ARE THEY REALLY WORTH THE COST??
Any opinions, input, alternate suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
TIA.

you won't end up paying anywhere near list for an hre setup, especially if you call the fine folks at wheelexperts.com.
second, hre's service is really amazing -- if anything goes wrong, rest assured, they will make it right. in extreme cases, i've had them refinish wheels that were damaged due to road debris for free.
third, the wheels are absolutely stunning. i'm not sure if you've seen them in person, but if not, you will be impressed. they look even better rolling :-)
i've owned the 545r's on my m3 for 2 years now. i couldn't be happier with my choice -- in fact, i'm happy enough that i'm very close to pulling the trigger on another set of hre's, this time for my tt.

Would i take a 2nd mtg to pay for them? Hell no. OZ SuperL's in 18x8 for 350/pop. Light, strong, clears big breaks and at 1/3-1/4 the cost of HRES.
