Default If I trade in my SP8000 immediately, how much can I get?

Hi,
I'll be picking up my 2001 1.8TQMSPX today. I would like to run All Seasons on them instead of the SP8000. If I immediately trade them in to the tire place, how much can I expect to get them for? I believe the SP8000 at 205/55/16. Are the stock sports package SP8000 or SP8000E? I believe the SP8000 runs for $89/piece (roughly in the above mentioned size configuration).
Thanks.

Default I have no idea about trading in, but I have a question...

Why would you want to trade-in your SP8000Es for all weather tires? The 8000s perform just fine in the rain and offer decent performance to boot.

If you're thinking that you'll be able to use the all weather tires in the snow, I would advise against it. All weather tires may be marginally better in snow than the 8000s, but they certainly are far from ideal for true winter driving. I strongly suggest you get dedicated snow tires for your winter driving.

The only upside I can see is that you might get more tread life from all weather tires. But I can't imagine that you would get much money for trading in the tires (I didn't know you could even do such a thing.) If you're intent on getting all weather tires, it would probably benefit you to just sell the tires to someone and use the cash for your new tires.

Default Thanks for the suggestion, but do not want to swap 2 sets...

of tires/wheels. All seasons are not great for snow, but I have done fine in them in my 97 Civic. Besides, I'll most likely get *better* all seasons than on my current car. By trading in, I meant *selling* them to the tire dealer, and buying new ones from them.

All right, but remember that your A4 is heavier than your Civic so it will be harder to stop in the snow. I've been frequenting this board for about three years now and every year there seems to be several posts from people who thought Quattro and all season tires would be enough, but they weren't. Of course, this is coming from someone who once went to Lake Tahoe in the middle of the night, in blizzard conditions, in a '81 Ford Escort stationwagon shod with Sears all weather tires and no chains. So who am I to talk?

BTW, let us know how much you end up getting for the SP8000Es. I'd be interested in knowing.

Default sell them to me

I am looking for tires to replace mine. My current 8000's lasted 38K miles.

Send me some email so we can talk price and shipping. Maybe both of us can get what we want.

sjain@belisp.com

Find out what a dealer will give you incase that is the way you want to go.
