Default Kumho 712 the worst tire I have ever purchased

These things are miserable! With cold weather setting in its like driving on square wheels. Kumho says this flat spotting is a normal occurrence for a tire overnight and that the internal nylon band needs to warm up to take its round shape back? They claim this is normal and happens to all low profile tires ( maybe in the 50s'). I guess I got what I paid for, don't do the same.

S-03s here. No such probs, even when the temps dip down into 30s. (F)

Default I had a bad experience with these, also...

...on an A4. They wore out after only about 10K miles. HPH

Default No offense to anyone but I'd never get a Kumho or Falken

Just seem too cheesey. Of course I could be way off but they seem like the "Kia's" of the tire world. Oh, same for Hankook.

Default cheaper is not always worse...

Sometimes you just pay for brand name. Also, some tire brands are manufactured by the same company (Dunlop and Sumitomo for one).

What I suspect sets companies apart is quality control. Some are not as dilligent about pulling lemons off the production line before it reaches the customer. There have been many positive reviews of the Kumhos and Falkens here. There have also been some negative ones. But even brand name tires like Bridgestone have gotten some bad reviews in the past - some were out of round and could not be balanced properly, some were noisy, etc. So, it happens to all of them.

How a company treats you when you try to make a claim is another story though.

I assume you haven't tried some Azenis? Check SCCA results

Default I don't think Dunlop and Sumitomos are the same anymore

Goodyear owns Dunlop now.

Second page, first paragraph:

"The Dunlop, Goodyear and Falken brands are strong business resources for Sumitomo Rubber."<ul><li><a href="http://www.dunlop.co.jp/financial/download/ar3.pdf">Sumitomo Rubber Brochure</a></li></ul>
