Why wouldn't you just have HRE repair/replace the bent lip(s)??

It was an unlit road, and really is only suitable for one-way traffic. An SUV was coming the other way, and I had to move over. There's no way you can see it at night and I wasn't even exceeding the speed limit (25mph, probably was going 15 at the time.)

I've got some pretty damning pictures of that pothole, and there's no way I could have avoided it, given the situation I described. If I missed it the other car would have been either half off the road or we would have hit each other. (I took pics of me beside the pothole and cars running WAY off the road).

I also disagree, it's not the public's responsibility to be playing "dodge ball" in the streets to avoid damage. That's simply dangerous.

And beyond that the pothole was longer than a yard, was over 20 inches wide, and 6 inches deep, which extended below two layers of sub-grade. It was a mother.

I damaged both rim sections and they are literally flattened. (It was much more obvious when the wheel guy was spinning it, only looks like a thumb print otherwise). He speculated with this type of damage my center section might also be damaged. If the claim gets approved, I'll buy a new one (I'd just prefer the peace of mind it's completely good), if not, I'll send it back for them to confirm...

Some cars would hit frame in that hole.

I seriously doubt that you bent the center. It is the part that is forged. You're probably fine.
