Tire time will arrive this fall, and I want to get the best all around tires for my 90 Quattro. I use this car for work, drive about 40k a year, and need to drive in all weather, including Philadelphia winters, which are usually slushy and sometimes quite snow covered.
Recomendations?

I had 205/55/16's on my 1995 90. (no quattro) They are pretty typical of all-seasons in that they perform ok to good in all conditions but not great in any. They were about $80 per tire and did all right in all conditions. In deep snow they were a little sketchy but your quattro will help big time and when pushed hard in dry, they started to squeal. Overall a great all-season at a reasonable price and they were very quiet and decent looking too.
I was happy with them in the fact that I could use them all year round but I was much happier with one set of tires for summer and one set for winter.<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/Rebadged3.jpg">

Maybe i will rethink the all-season thing. There are a lot of tempting winter tires on TireRack, like the Bridgestone Blizzak...<p>'95 90s Quattro

Blizzaks are a great snow tire. With quattro you are almost unstoppable. Then get some good performance tires for non snow use. I think overall you'll be much happier.
It is a little more money up front buying 2 sets of tires, but they last much longer and you'll feel much safer in the winter with tires to handle just about any winter condition. The deductible from one accident about equalls the cost of a good set of snow tires!<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/Rebadged3.jpg">
