Default Is it normal for a valve core to become loose? opinions?

I had a flat yesterday and took my tire in to be checked out this morning. According to the mechanic, the valve core was loose. He said this should never happen, once they are tight they never work loose.

Is this true? I did not buy my tires at this shop, but it is closest to my house and is open on Sunday. I want to make sure this is not a rival tire shop trying to gain business by bad-mouthing their competitor.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Default The core is done by the valve stem mfr.

A tire installer would not be touching it under normal conditions.

Tire installers remove cores to deflate tires.
