<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/6877/wheels.jpg"></center><p>Stock '02 S4 (Santorin sport).

I'm looking at 18x8.5 BBS RXII with Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 in 235/40/18.

I like the wheels, probably sticking with those unless somebody can show me something really compelling in the same price range (I've also considered SSR GT3, Oettinger RE/RZ, AT Italia Riva 2pc, BBS RC and CH, and some other wheels that just cost way too much P).

The tires are chosen because Tire Rack has a smoking deal on them right now - $109 each in that size.

So, the Qs are:

1) Think you can convince me to check out other wheels (pics help)?

2) 712's - seem to be pretty well liked, any reason not to go with them at this price?

3) Tire size - wanted to step up to 235 on the wider wheels. How wide do 712s run, and will I have rubbing issues on a stock height stock suspension car? Will I need fender rolling?

Thanks for all input.

Default These rims look great - go for it!

As far as tires, I'd probably spend a few more bucks and get the Yokohama AVS ES100 for $136.

Default Thanks! Tire comparisons and RXII vs CH?

You think the ES100s are that much better? When springing for wheels already, $120 saved is a good chunk. At that price range, Sumitomo, Dunlop and Pirelli are also in the mix. Anybody got experience with more than one of these? (Yes, I read the reviews on tirerack.com)

I guess the only other wheels I'm really still considering at this point are the CHs. I could step up to 19" wheels and *save* $300 (even including tire price) at about the same wheel weight (though inferior rotational inertia, no doubt), or stay at 18" and save *more* $$$ and some weight besides. I still prefer the RXII look though. Any input on RXII vs CH pros and cons appreciated as well.

I'll get back to shuffling money to make the finances happen.... ;o)

Default Re: Thanks!

Did you see the test comparo among 712, HTRZ-II, and ES100 on TireRack's site?

Default Re: Yep.

I've got experience with S-03s and P6000s. :-) The rest is all regurgitated from years of reading these and other forums. The 712s are an old design. People who've never had any other performance tires, love the 712s. People who've tried something better, usually hate the 712s.

When my S-03s wear out, I'll be replacing them with either Dunlop SP9000 or Falken ST-115. I want something more comfy, quiet, and longer lasting. I realized I don't need all that performance and tramlining that S-03s offer. I only drive on the streets.

Default Fair enough

Thanks for the input. I don't have any experience with these myself, this is my first set of tires to buy for the S4, the Mustang wears gForce T/A KDs (and Bridgestone RE71s before that).

Default Not the same price, $30 more per tire

But that does seem to be a popular recommendation.

Why the RCs? I know they're lighter, which is a plus, but on the other hand I like the RXII style better.

I like the SSR GT1...considering them in 18s for myself.
