Default okay, I have a question

I have Dunlop sports 235/45 17 and want to put them on BBS CH 17X8.5 my question is has anyone else done this? or know of some one that has. Tire rack says they don't show that as a fitment, but I was thinking that with the wider but taller tire on a 8.5 wide wheel that it might streach it out and make it more the hight of a 225/45 but I understand it will not be the same but I already have the tires and they were free so I can't really pass them up. in all this I could be wrong but any help would be more then enough, thanks.

Default They should fit without a problem, the 8.5" width of the rim will sretch the tire more,but...

whether or not it will rub depends on the offset of the wheel.

Default hard to say with 100% certainty...

I know some people who run 235/45 tires on 17x8 rims (A8 rims) on stock sport susp. without problems.

Whether you'll rub or not depends on two things mainly:

1. Wheel offset. With OEM wheels, there is more risk of rubbing on the inside because they have higher offset. Most aftermarket rims have somewhat lower offset so that the risk of a wider tire rubbing on the inside is reduced.

2. Suspension. If you have an aftermarket suspension that lowered the car significantly, then again, there is a high risk of bottoming out or rubbing when driving over bumps, taking sharp turns, etc. If you have stock suspension, that risk is rather low, IMO.

Since each situation is different, I'd say that the only way to be 100% sure is to try these on.

Or lets wait and see if someone with a very similar setup provides you with more guidance...
