Paging Gary: Would like to put 255/35/18 F1's on an 18x8 wheel for the S6...

..stock 17 x 8's came with 255/40's from Audi, but I understand the wheel width of 8" is considered somewhat narrow for a 255 (even though Audi used this combo on the C5 S6 and A6 4.2). What are your thoughts on this one? Still provides the same rolling diameter as the stock tires, and besides, the wheels I want only comes in an 8" wide size. I'd prefer not to shrink the tire size if at all possible. TIA.

Although it is outside of the recommended rim width range given by the tire manufacturer, Audi does it on the A6 4.2 as you stated. My feeling in this case is that Audi already did it on your chassis, so go for it as long as you're okay with the appearance of the the 255 width tires 'pulled out' look on 8" wheels.<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR8&url=/tires/index.jsp">Tires</a></li></ul>
