Default Define "good"

Better in snow than a summer tire? Yes. As good as a real snow tire? Nope. Not even close. The 7000SS is a so-called "all season" tire - which means it legally qualifies as a snow tire, if only barely.

If you want a tire that's actually good in snow, you need at least a dedicated snow tire. That means something like a Michelin Alpin, Dunlop M2, Pirelli 210A, or Blizzak.

For even better snow performance, downsize to a smaller wheel and narrower tire, and get something like the Nokian Hakka 1 or Hakka Q.

Best, of course, means studded tires.

Personally, I'd only run a 7000SS in winter if I live in a place where it MIGHT snow, and not much at that. If I know I'll be in snow, I'd get real snow tires.

thanks...

i live in the nyc area, so we get snow sometimes but lately it hasnt been that much at all.

i know that the 7000ss arent as good as a dedicated snow tire, but i was comparing them to the stock continentals that come standard on my car.

i was trying to decide on whether to wait til winter is over to buy rims and tires or to buy now.

thanks,
jay

The stock Contis outperform the P7000's in snow.

Default No, but

they're better than RE730s; tried both in our snowstorm Sat evening (no flames, please; just wanted to see how each did). Both tires were pretty bad, so headed back to garage and got out the dreaded Subdivision, er Suburban.
