Default Planning on running 245/35-18 on BBS CHs on my B5 S4. Current ride height

is just under 25.5 in the rear and about 25.75 in the front. (See photo) I'm not sure if I will rub & then need to roll front fenders. Kinda planning on it unless others don't have rubbing issues. Suspension is grooved Bilsteins w/ Neuspeed Sport springs.

Narrowed the tires choices to Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 or the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx.

Anyone else running this tire size w/ a similar wheel size 18 x 8.5? Any other issues?

Default here's the info for the F1 & Sport Maxx

Goodyear F1 GS :

on a 8.5" wide rim.

section width = 9.8"
tread width = 8.2"
overall diameter = 24.8"

Dunlop SportMAxx:

on a 8.5" wide rim.

section width = 9.8"
tread width = 8.3"
overall diameter = 24.8"

Very close in size. What are you running now? maybe we can compare to those.

-edited the tire height to be approriate. Numbers are from Dunlop tire book, and GY website

Default Thanks for the info! Currently have 225/45-17 Dunlop Wintersport M3s on stock wheels.

Just bought the BBSs so I haven't got anything to compare. I know lots of people running 225s on the 8.5 widt but that seems to narrow of a tire. I'd also like a little more rubber on the road. :-)

Where do you find this tire info anyways? Thanks again.

Default for comparison

the dunlop M3

measured rim width = 8" (i think your OEM's are 7.5")

Section width = 9.1"

tread width = 7.1"-7.2"

Overall diameter = 25.0"

On your setup the section width might be a tad narrower since you rim is .5" narrower.

The tires you are looking at are .7" taller and about .6-.7" wider. You will also want to look at the offset of the CH's to the OEM's. You may want to ask charles (hotani) over in our region forum as he is running the 18" CH's on his A4, i think he has 235's and has a little rubbing in the rear wells. But i believe he might be lower than you.

Default I got different figures for these...

245/35/18... these are from TireRack's site:

Goodyear F1 GSD3 :

on a 8.5" wide rim.

section width = 9.7"
tread width = 8.2"
overall diameter = 24.7"

Dunlop SportMAxx:

on a 8.5" wide rim.

section width = 9.8"
tread width = 8.8"
overall diameter = 24.8"

Were you looking at 245/40/18 specs by any chance?

Default Interesting the height is 25.7. When I did the size comparison on Miata Tire Size

calculator, it showed them to be a diameter of 24.8" and a 235/40-18 would be 25.4". A 245/40-18 is 25.7" Can you double check the diameter of a 245/35-18?

I guess the difference is in the manufacturing specs. Going by the Miata #s, since it would be slightly shorter overall, less chance of rubbing.

My mistake. Dunlop = 24.8", GY = 24.7". I read the wrong column, everything else if accurate. ;-)

Default Sweet. Thanks for the update!!! I'm assuming I'd have less chance of rubbing w/ the Goodyears

since they are .1 of an inch narrower & .1 inch shorter. Probably impossible to tell the difference.
