I am considering putting 18" wheels on my 2000 4.2 and the recommended fitment for an 18" wheel is 255/35/18. My question is are any of you running this size tire and if so did you notice a significant difference in ride quality? I am currently running 255/40/17's. I do not want to have a harsh ride and can alternatively use a 235/40/18 tire.
I would rather use the 255/35/18 and maintain the "wide" stance of the 4.2, but not if the ride quality is going to be compromised significantly. Thanks for your comments.

It can work, but you'll need to be careful with tire selection, which often makes more of a difference in ride quality than wheel diameter. Take a look at "Ride Comfort" in Tirerack's Customer Surveys, and take opinions with a big grain of salt when total reported miles is low.
BTW: You don't want an S-03.
