I need a set of new tires for my TT soon. Any comments on Bridgestone Potenza SO2 Pole Position versus Potenza RE040 are appreciated.

I have had the following tires on my Audi A4 or S4...
Continental H95 Conti-touring
Dunlop SP8000E
Pirelli P7000 Super Sports
Dunlop SP9000
Bridgestone RE040
Bridgestone Potenza S-02 Pole Position
Of all those...I like the S-02 Pole Position tires the best.
Get um.

Excellent dry weather performance.
Excellent wet weather performance.
Eddie @ Tire Rack recommends them.
They will look great on your car.

Steve,
Since you've had so many tires on your A4/S4, could you rank them in terms of dry, wet, and tread life?
I'm going to be making a purchase soon, but I'm shying away from the S-02s because of price. Also, I'll likely be selling my A4 this fall for a 993, and most buyers won't care about superior S-02s so I won't recover the cost.

I have a friend or two that have them ...and like them....including the folks at APR.
I would rank them in the following order:
From Best to Worst for wet and dry handling (I am not near snow/ice):
S-02 PP (the tire for me)
Dunlop SP8000E (pretty good for dry...so-so in wet...bad in snow)
Dunlop SP9000 (quiet...but loses grip fast when pushed...$$$$$)
Bridgestone RE040 (I just don't like them...no more detail available)
Pirelli P7000SS (all weather)
Continental Conti-Touring (all weather)

I just got these for my car, 225/45/17, and they are AMAZING. go to the Toyo site. They have some reports/tests that were done by German magazines pitting these tires against the PP-s02, and AVS Sport. The Toyo meet or Beat BOTH in all conditions especially the wet. PLUS, I got mine for $160 each!!! I don't know if any tire is worth another $100 each! The tread pattern is very aggressive looking, and the tire has a beed protector for rims.
I think they ride better than the Dunlop SP8000, I have no howling noises, they aren't harsh, and they stick like glue!!!
