I have two sets of Flik Justices -- both are anthracite (dark grey). I want to get one set powdercoated Audi OEM light grey (according to Edge Racing, the Fliks are powdercoated with a clear coat). I talked to my powdercoater who's pretty sure he can powdercoat over the original finish w/o sand blasting.

I have to assume the guy knows what he's talking about. Anyone have any experience with re-finishing wheels using powdercoat? Did the finish last? Satisfied with the results? Does the above scenario sound right?

see my sig pic. But they were done while refinishing the wheels. Wheels were stripped, sprayed silver then powder coated clear.

Can't imagine powdercoating without etching (sanding, media blasting) the paint. Otherwise the powder won't stick if the surface has any dirt or other contanimant on it.

How's it holding up? Seems just fine as long as you don't accidentally hit it with your torque wrench, then it chips off. Yea I speak from experience.
