I am planning on getting a set of Axis Se7en wheels in 18 x 7.5, and can have any offset I want. My understanding is that a lower offset number means that the wheel will look more tucked in and closer to the hub, whereas a higher offset will make the wheel stick out more (which is what I want). Is this correct? Or am I way off base? In any case, I need to let Axis know ASAP! TIA!

Check out this link regarding offset. Offset is measured from the wheel centerline to the mounting face of a wheels hub, so adding 1/2" ( 7" to 7 1/2" ) wheel width and reducing positive offset by 10 mm ( 3/8"+ ) should yield a net increase of 5/8"+ farther out. ( half the width increase plus the reduced offset - the other half of the width increase goes to the inside )

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/offset.htm</a
