Default a question of offsets???

Looking to go to a 17inch wheel for my 98.5 a4qms. Which is the correct/ most appropriate offset? Seems like people run everything from 45(stock) to 35. The BBS RC that audi sells are 43 as are the new RS4 style (in believe). Is 43 the number to go with?, why?, why not? Thanks in advance.

Default ET43 should be fine, so long as the rim is no wider than 8" ...

Even then, you should be carefull if your car is lowered or if you plan on running 235 tires, rather than OE 225 size.

Personally, I think 38-40 is perfect for 8" width, 35-38 for rims 8.5" wide. Of course, if Audi is spec'ing their BBS at ET43, that must be good too. : )

The reason you see so many people with ET 35 is that it's a common aftermarket offset, covering a wide range of applications.

Default Same question for A6 2.8

I'm in the same boat, looking for a 17" for my 1998 A6 2.8 Quattro. Would a 17 x 7.5 et35
be fine with a 225/45/17? I absolutely want NO rubbing and don't want anything sticking
out of the wheel well....

Help?

Default Wow ... I' surprised! When I ran 235/40s on a 17x8 wheel with ET35 offset ...

I had about a credit card's thickness of clearance between the back tire and rear suspension arm. Never rubbed, but it was damn close.

So you're running an inch wider than stock rim (OE 17" which is 17x7.5) and the same offset, but it doesn't touch *anything*, ever? That's impressive. : )
