I've been running Blizzak 2s since November and am quite pleased. I have always used studded tires in the past and thought I would give the latest non studded tires to see how they would work. So far they work better in all conditions except built up black ice where they work about 75% as well as the studded tires. I'm willing to take the trade-off though since so many people have studded tires up here that that layer of ice is quickly worn away to pavement. Once the ice is gone you have studded tires on pavement which can be pretty slippery. Our snow tire season lasts from Halloween to Easter and so we put a lot of miles on them. The studs wear down in two to three seasons and the rubber gets hard so studded or not you can only expect 2-3 seasons of wear. BTW nobody ever uses chains except tractor trailer rigs and a few school busses without the automatic ones.
