I put 225-50vr16 Yokohama AS430 on my 3400lb car a couple of seasons ago and then slammed this tire when it had near zero snow traction. I was hopeful that these would extend my summer rims season before I go to winter mode. This tire is very much like the Avid ,only its private labeled for some chain stores . I just put a set on my daughters Altima at the insistance of my friend who manages a tire shop . I went back to the Altima base tire 195-65HR15 instead of using the larger 205-60HR15 . The smaller tire patch has made a huge difference in traction .This car is about 3100 lb like some A4 and even with 2wd the Nissan gets fairly good snow traction ,haven't had it on ice yet.I went for the smaller patch this time because of my kid being an unexperienced driver. But I will say once again I was wrong about this tire. If I had put a 205-55vr16 on my rims instead of the 225 width I would have been better off and my next tire purchase will be now be rethought . The wider tires stick like glue in summer rain or shine,but I didn't get what I expected when the weather changed to snow. Gary at Tirerack will agree I'm sure ,that any wider than stock in winter can slide too easily.
