i live in the bay area, so there's no snow here whatsoever. i go to tahoe about 10 times a winter, or more, and am wondering if i need snow tires or would the stock 15 in. all weather tires do? i don't have an extra set of rims yet, so i'd have to swap the tires on/off my sport 16 inchers every time i go or just leave them on all winter. i'd rather get the stock 15's with the all weather tires so i could just swap the rims/tires when i go up, but i question the safety of all weather tires vs. snow tires. also, getting 16 inch snow tires would cost more than getting used non-sport rims. answers? thanks...

That many times almost makes getting snows tires worth while.
However, you can get by on all seasons if you like but you just won't be 100% in the snow and ice conditions. I guess the real question is how hard do you drive. All seasons are acceptable to a lot of people.

They redsigned the tire for this year so I don't know if these are the new ones or not. The price seems pretty good.
Better safe than sorry. Besides not having to put chains on is quite a blessing (I did this for years in the 70 and 80s when I lived in the Bay Area)
Good luck

I have done some research on them and found that they are good in snow and in dry conditions (performance wise) but are not said to be that good on ice (Bridgestone Blizzak's are better on ice but I think they are too soft). They are suppose to be a good tire for the price and are also suppose to be quiet on dry pavement. That's my 2 cents (Opinion)
Hope this helps
