SO2'S vs SP9000.........tradeoffs??? Any input?
Will be taking off my MZo1's this spring and I'm looking for input on the tradeoff of dry road performance with wet road ability. It seems pretty clear the SO2's are the better performance tire (dry) but how much performance is given up with the SP9000's and do the SP9000's wet ability make up for it??

I have had both....S-02 PP are better overall
The SP9000s..when new...squeal pretty bad. When the tread gets worn down..they get better. I still liked the SP9000...but not really until 1/2 the tread was gone. They were very similar in the wet.

Re: SO2'S vs SP9000
S02PPS are still flat out, without exception THE BEST wet traction tire produced.
The SP9000s are nice & very good in wet, but esp., as the tire wears, the S02PPs retain the same level of wet performance, even with a shallower tread depth.
SP9000s are also more ride over handling. The SP9000s are just a bit above an UHP tire, rather than a max-perf type tire's grip.
Feel free to call me to discuss or when you are ready!

No Comparison ... I have had both on prior car - 850 Volvo Turbo - SP9000's were great in the rain, and totally cushy, comfortable ride but I felt like I went from a 45 to 55 series in responsiveness - VERY disappointing tire, particularly from a steering response, and overall cornering perspective. SO2's are the best tire on the market - great wet, superb steering response, tremendous handling. Prior to these two, I also had P-Zeros and Michelin Pilots. None compare to the SO2's - they'll be going on my new S4.
