Default Pete - I guess we have to disagree on this - I have seen the benifits of Armorall since the 70s.

I agree with you that the defect appears to be a scruffing one.

Default That's OK :-)

In my experience, Armor All works fine as long as you keep applying it and never stop. But once you do stop, it dries out the rubber so much, that it causes spider webs and cracking. I had this happen with a set of tires I once had.

I believe the heavy dose of silicone in AA causes this to happen. Go to the detailing forum, and you'll find loads of info on this.

After that, I pretty much stopped using any kind of tire dressing. I just found it unnecessary and doing it just for the looks doesn't appeal to me anymore. So, that's my experience. Yours is different obviously. It's all good. :-)

Default I guess I never have stopped using it on anything

I also used it on my 78 280Z dash - and I had one of the few dashes that never split. So many owners had to get those dash covers.

your inputs on what happens if one stops is interesting - though I have lived in so many places with tough weather - tires looked bad if one did nothing.

You have probably seen my postings about in the 60s I used brake fluid to dress the cars tires. (Though it is tough on paint - it cleans up rubber - as it is designed to be compatable with the rubber seals on brake systems) I stopped using it when AA was marketed.
