Hey guys, just looking to get some opinions on what tires I should be running. I'm an advanced run group student with the ACNA/NEQ and have been advised by my instructors to get a set of track tires. I'll be running them on a set of Audi TT225 wheels, 17"x8", 32mm offset. Thanks for any suggestions.

they are closing out the Hankook Z211 R-comps and the 225/235 in 17" size are super-cheap at $118 ea. IIRC, the Z211 were the spec tire for USTCC road racing until last year, when the non-treaded Z214 took over. I would jump all over these if I still had my Audi.

Factory 17" tire size on the GTI is 225/45/R17, which they just sold out of 2 weeks ago. They still have 235/45/R17s.....think I can run those?

the only question is if the extra width fits in your car w/out rubbing. do you frequent a VW forum where you can ask this specific question to other GTI enthusiasts?
is your car lowered? how close are you to rubbing now?

I used to moderate a VW Forum....most VW people are immature ***** kids spending daddy's money on their cars. Hence why I spend most of my time on Audi forums where people understand what I'm saying and try to help. But I did take your suggestion and asked on the VWVortex wheel/tire forum....I have yet to recieve a reply, but I'll keep you posted.
I can't recall my car ever rubbing at all....its lowered on a Vogtland/Bilstein cup kit, 1.4". I did the math and its only slightly bigger than what I have now, and since I won't be turning the steering wheel to its locks on the track anyway I believe I should be able to get away with it.
Its either this or drop at least $190 per tire, and its starting to look like I'm going to take a chance on the slightly bigger size unless someone tells me flat out that its a very bad idea.

if the 32mm offset is closer to neutral than OEM, then your only *potential* problem may be rubbing on the front fenders. this is relatively easy to fix with fender rolling, very common among B5 owners.

I'm going to order the tires today. I agree, the worst I'll have it is having to roll the fenders, and I don't think I'll even have to do that.
Thanks for the help!
