The A4 manual tell you to run 3 psi more on winter tires. I am using 38 psi with my stock tires. So for winter I should be using 38 + 3 = 41 psi. The side walls of the Bridgestone Blizzak states max inflation pressure is 35 psi.
What are most of you using??
TIA
Roy M 2.8q Tip (Using 35 psi in my new Blizzak's)

I'm not an expert, but 41 psi in a vehicle as light as the A4 is damn high. I would like someone to tell me just why you couldn't safely run at 30 psi and not cause any undo damage to your car. I dare anyone to say you will get better performance out of a winter tire at 40 psi vs. 30 psi (on an A4).

41 psi does seem too high, and IS too high for a tire rated at 35 psi max. But the A4 is not a particularly light car (3200-3500 lbs, depending on equipment) and the recommendations for tire pressure are based on that weight, as well as other factors, I'm sure. Of course, I'm coming from a Jetta, so my perspective may be somewhat skewed!
The high inflation pressure comes into play when the car is operated with high loads (5-up with a full load of luggage) where the proper inflation pressure is 42/42 rather than 32/32 and I suspect that tires with a load rating of 91 (as are the OEM tires) are able to support the pressure and the weight.
As always, YMMV
Steve
