Default What is the difference between 255/40/17 and 245/45/17 for my S6 Avus (17x8) wheels on a '00 A6 2.7T

Are there going to be spacing problems with them? I'm looking at getting the S-03 for the wheels when they come in the next 1-2 weeks. These wheels were attained via the group purchase a couple of months back.

TIA for the feedback-
Ernesto

Default According to PeteRD, 255/40/17 does not fit 2.7T...

..since the control arms are different from the S6/4.2, 245 is the widest you can go. I also participated in this GP and decided on staying with the true "+1" fitment of 235/45R17 since it minimizes the speedo error and keeps the sidewall from "bulging". I decided I like the cleaner look they'll give on this wheel. Just my personal preference though, there's certainly nothing wrong with going 245. This is the size PeteRD chose and I think he loves them. Incidentally, that's his 2.7T shown on the GP pics page of the urs4.com web site. Check it out when you get a chance.

I decided on the Pirelli PZero's since they acheive great performance but seem to ride better than the S-03 and Pilots accoring to the tests done by the Rack. I can't even begin to tell you how painful it is to see all that PZero rubber sitting around waiting for my wheels to arrive!

HTH.

Default 255/40/17s do fit on 2.7Ts.

A number of us have 255/40/17s on 4.2 Sport wheels on our 2.7Ts with no problems. I checked with Eddie at Tirerack before putting them on my car.
