Default What is the recommended tire size for 18x8" rim?

I currently have kumho 712s in 225/40, but want to either get SO3s or T1s as my next tire.

I know S03s run wide, so the size would be 225/40

For the T1S should I get 235/40, does anyone run this tire on an 8" rim?

i'm running 225/40/18 Goodyear F1GS-D3's and they offer a pretty good amount of lip protection

Default How are they?

I have a bubble in my Kumho 712s from hitting a pothole.

Do the Goodyears have a stiff sidewall?
I know the SO3s have a stiffer side wall than the T1s?

What made you choose those tires?

Default i've gotten roughtly 1400 miles on them so far and I'm pretty pleased with them.

The dry traction is comparable to the S03's but not as nice. The wet traction is very good. The steering response is as crisp as the S03s even with a wheel 1/2" more narrow. They are a very quiet tire at least this early in the wear. The S03's when pushed to the limit let you know how far you are from breaking completely free, the F1s are a lot quieter and don't seem to be as forgiving. I'm very happy with them so far.

Why I got them... I wanted to try something different, and was originally looking at the KDW/KDW-2 from BFG, but ended up with the F1s once I compared wear ratings. The F1s should last considerably longer than the S03 or KDWs.

Default wrong, the KDW2 have tread rating of 300 compared to the GS-D3's with only 280...

i too was deciding between the GS-D3's and the KDW2's and the BFG KDW2 were cheaper (for 225/40/18), had higher tread rating and better wet performance among other things.

IMO, the KDW2 look better too! its still on sale at tirerack for $162ea -- very good buy for 225/40/18
