I am looking at a set of 17x7.5 wheels for my 4000q and am wondering if I will need 215/35(40)-17 or if I will be able to get away with a 205 width tire? What would be the pros and cons of goign either way? I dont want the tire to liik like \______/, i would rather it be |______|. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

The section width is the cross section across the sidewall. I don't know what overall diameter tire diameter is required for your car, but 7.5" equals 190 mm.

The pic below shows a 9.0" (229 mm) wheel with a 255 mm (10.0") section width tire. As you can see, the sidewall sticks out very slightly past the wheel, about 1/2" on each side.
