Default what winter tires for S4 for Seattle winter?

It only snows here about once a year, but I may go into the mountains to do some skiing a couple of times. Mostly, it's just really wet and between 32-50 degrees -- it hardly ever freezes.

I've been contemplating 16" wheels with the Dunlop Winter Sport M2 or Blizzak LM-22 tires. Any recommendations?

thanks!

Default I'm looking at the same options for Seattle as well....

I read the Dunlops are more performance oriented than the Blizzaks, however, either one would work. I think I'm ordering the Dunlops tomorrow.

I use Michelin Pilot Alpins on my stock 16" rims up here in Vancouver for the winter.

Default Considering you won't be in snow much, you might consider getting stock size 225/45-17, so that you

don't give up too much of the handling characteristics that you are familiar with.
Several S4 people last winter posted that they regretted going to the smaller 16" sizes (and same for some who went with narrower 17" sizes) because of the change in handling characteristics.
I drove last winter in Pennsylvania (and to Buffalo and back in lots of snow) on Dunlop M2's in size 225/45-17. They were superb in snow and slush and rain, etc. I was in 8+ inches of snow. These tires were unstoppable. I cannot imagine better traction. I was able to do launches from stop lights, where there was 3-4" of snow on the road. It was amazing.
And having the stock 225/45-17 size, allowed me to maintain most of the stock handling characteristics.

Good luck.

Default What I recommend

For your conditions, I would suggest keeping your OEM 225 size, and I woud suggest the Dunlop WinterSport M2s, as they will provide you with a very high level of dry handling, minimizing your performance trade off. They will give you great handling for wet/slushy conditions, along with ice traction.

Take a look & then give me a call so I can discuss with you in more detail, narrow that down & then get the order placed for you when you are ready!

Thanks!
Eddie
